Extra-Terrestrial and Ordinary

Extra-Terrestrial and Ordinary are a series of sculptures I created analogous with my overall body of astronaut works. Ranging from a 1:1 scale print of a drawing of a Mercury Atlas Rocket, to a duct tape American flag planted in road patch asphalt titled ‘One Small Step for Dayton’, each piece embodies a humorous attribute related to its own absurdity. From a decapitated astronaut featuring a video of myself searching the room surrounding me to a large capsule titled “Spaceship Porkchop One” that self destructs, Extra Terrestrial and Ordinary is a series meant to play on the ‘artifact-uality’ of what we present in museums as evidence of our heroism and human ingenuity.
